Omega-3 from Arctic Treasure: “Seal Oil”
Are you aware of Omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, or PUFAs? This is the most vital group of nutrients in human cells during metabolism and keeps our immune system healthy. Human brain comprises about 60% of fat, 40% is Omega-3. Of the 80% fat in the retina (eye), 60% is Omega-3. It is most important for infants' visual acuity and mental development at their early stage of life.
These 3 fatty acids are DHA (docosa-hexaenoic acid), EPA (eicosa-pentaenoic acid) and DPA (docosa-pentaenoic acid). They circulate in our blood system throughout our life and control many functions. Since they cannot be synthesized or stored in the human body, they have to be taken from foods daily. For the cultural and diet reasons, some people tend to consume more vegetables (Omega-6) than marine products. This dietary habit and trend have given rise to an imbalanced Omega 3 to 6 ratio from the normal 1:5 to a dangerous level of 1:30. Because of this imbalance, deficiency of Omega-3 results in the following typical diseases in clinical studies: Coronary Diseases – high blood pressure & cholesterol, cardiac arrest, sudden death, strokes, diabetes etc.
It would be beneficial to introduce seal oil into our daily diet. Seal oil will allow us to be free of some diseases mentioned above.
